Essentials

Weather is hot, hot, dry and dusty. Get hat/cap, mask, umbrella, sun screen and enough water. Is best to have them inside a backpack instead of hand carry. Your hand is better to be free to hold on stairs grilling or any available stable items to help you climb. Weather is really hot even on year end which local says is 'winter' season a hat and umbrella are essential but certain temples restrict entry with big umbrella so is better to carry a foldable umbrella. Around Cambodia especially Siem Reap town is very dusty. A mask would be ideal when you walk around the roadside and finally drinking water. Bring a bottle, most van/tuk tuk hired will provide drinking water but a spare wouldn't hurt.
